The quick-and-dirty food-to-donate flow we designed & tested in just 1 week of research!

Led a Design Sprint for Goodr Food Rescue to define and validate an MVP mobile app to coordinate pickup and delivery of safe food donations from donors to food banks/shelters

• Advised non-profit executives to prioritize most crucial business flows and user personas

• Mapped outcome-oriented processes for Donor <> Driver food pickup and dropoff

• Collaborated with UX Design to create lean wireframes and a clickable prototype to test

• Coordinated and facilitated interviews and usability tests with real-life Donors and Drivers

• Organized a working backlog with Epics, Users Stories, and Acceptance Criteria for build

problem: when large amounts of safe, prepared food goes to waste, we need a way to be alerted to come pick it up to be delivered to a food bank or shelter

goal: prepare for initial mobile app development, leading to automated business operations: help food and beverage admins schedule food donation pickups

food donor outcomes: 

• select food donation type and vehicle size requirement for pickup

• confirm pickup location and timing

product features: 

• donation detail entry (food type) and vehicle size selection (amount)

• pickup scheduling (location & time)

lesson learned: 

• it can be hard for founders to focus on MVP – it’s like asking them to choose their favorite children
